PLANNER: WASTE MANAGEMENT

 

(WASTE MANAGEMENT)

 

POSITION CODE: 180051

 

TASK Grade 12 (R360 948 – R501 828 per annum)

 

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

 

 

 

Qualifications and experience required:

 

 

 

National Diploma in Production Management and/or Public/Business Administration with Work Study as a component.

 

Proficiency in MS Office Applications (essential).

 

A valid Code B driver’s licence.

 

A good working knowledge of Work-study (advantageous).

 

Three to four years’ experience in a similar environment.

 

 

 

The successful candidate will be required to utilise his/her private vehicle in the execution of official duties, for which a Casual (ad hoc) locomotion allowance will be paid.

 

 

 

Key attributes and competencies:

 

 

 

Excellent report-writing skills.

 

Sound monitoring and evaluation skills to co-ordinate the functions performed in the Waste Management Sub-directorate.

 

 

 

Job purpose

 

 

 

Performing specific tasks / activities associated with:

 

 

 
  • the research and development of waste management projects in order to ensure that waste management project proposals are professionally evaluated, that there is synergy between project proposals and the integrated Waste Management Plan, and that projects are adequately resourced to ensure achievement of the standard and objectives;
  • the examining of existing waste management systems to identify opportunities for improvement to ensure that waste management systems are continuously monitored and evaluated for effectiveness as a mechanism for the achievement of service delivery standards and objectives;
  • the development of plans / systems related to effective waste management and productivity improvements to ensure an effective and efficient waste disposal service through maximum productivity, supporting the accomplishment of service delivery and objectives;
  • the collation of waste management specific statistics to ensure that the Waste Management Sub-directorate enjoys a comprehensive, accurate, up-to-date and easily retrievable database of waste management related statistics, to support forward planning and assessment of the effectiveness of waste management systems;
  • the performing of general administrative duties to ensure that administrative sequences dictating information gathering processes and reporting requirements are complied with through the provision of accurate information on the activities of the Section. 
 

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
