ELECTRICITY INTERRUPTION ON 21 OCTOBER 2018

Residents are advised of a proposed electricity shutdown on SUNDAY, 21 OCTOBER 2018, between the hours of 08h00 and 16h00, in various areas of Nelson Mandela Bay, caused by the temporary shutdown of the College Drive Substation, to allow repairs and maintenance to be carried out on a local transformer.  

Areas affected: Mill Park, St. Georges Park (only end of College Drive Road), Glendinningvale, Greenacres, Scotstown.

Streets affected: Ascot Road, Barris Walk Street, Bradshaw Street, Churchill Road, College Drive, Conyngham Road, Cape Road, Dene Road, Fairford Road, Highbeech Road, Lenox Street, McLean Road, Mill Park Road, Mortimer Road, Nightingale Street, Ramsay Lane, Salisbury Avenue, Wares Road, Way Avenue, Wembley Road, Westview Drive, Woodville Road, Young Road. 

All installations must be treated as live for the duration of the outage. - Apologies are tendered for any inconvenience caused.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE

PROFESSIONAL SCIENTIST WATER AND SEWERAGE

(SUPPORT SERVICES - SCIENTIFIC SERVICES)

TASK Grade 14 (R427 476 – R594 312 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)


Requirements:

  • Appropriate level of tertiary qualification – B Tech / B Science in chemistry.
  • Registration with South African Council for National Scientific Professions (SACNASP) as a professional scientist.
  • Valid Code EB Driver’s licence.
  • Four to five years’ experience in chemistry laboratory management.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry laboratory.
  • Extensive International Standard Organisation knowledge (ISO) 17025 accreditation required.
  • Report writing skills.

Job purpose:

  • Managing and controlling the key performance indicators associated with the Water and Sewerage Laboratory through the monitoring of the chemical analysing of all samples in accordance with laid down laboratory procedures.
  • Investigating/reviewing present and new analytical methods.
  • Preparing reports and investigating/advising subordinates on technical problems, and ensuring laboratory compliance with (Internal Service Orders) ISO 17025.
