SENIOR CLERK

(TRAFFIC AND LICENSING SERVICES)

POSITION CODE: 7071

TASK Grade 6 (R154 368 – R214 620 per annum)

In compliance with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Employment Equity Plan, preference will be given to suitably qualified African/Coloured/White/Indian (male/female) applicants. 

Requirements: 

  • An appropriate level of Secondary Education.
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Six to twelve months’ experience. 

Competencies: 

  • Computer literacy. 

Job purpose: 

  • Co-ordinating specific staffing administrative sequences and attending to the general applications and interventions associated with the functionality in order to ensure that adequate support is made available to employees with respect to maintenance and safekeeping of employee files in accordance with approved record keeping systems.
  • Maintaining and updating personnel information with respect to changes in employment/personal status.
  • Controlling the Branch’s petty cash account in terms of Financial Standing Orders, receiving cash slips from officials, recording purchases in the appropriate registers, and forwarding petty cash vouchers and cash slips to the Budget and Treasury Directorate for reimbursement.
  • Recording non-routine overtime and calculating time off in lieu.
  • Processing Injury on Duty Claim forms, assisting officials in the completion of forms, and ensuring that the relevant supporting documentation is attached.
  • Processing/Updating Human Resources Information System records from approved applications and submissions in respect to training, employee assistance programmes, staff establishment details, job design and specifications.
  • Determining reporting requirements and accessing specific records and information system databases to extract information.

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
