TASK Grade 6 (R154 368 – R214 620 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

In compliance with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Employment Equity Plan, preference will be given to suitably qualified African/Coloured/White/Indian (male/female) applicants. 


  • Secondary qualification (Grade 10).
  • Twelve months’ relevant experience.
  • Valid Code EC driver’s license, including PDP. 



  • Must be physically fit and healthy and able to perform manual operations and duties on foot.
  • Incumbent is required to pull, load and off-load cables and equipment weighing over 20 kg.
  • Incumbent is also required to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to cope with working under environmental conditions that are physically stressful, such as varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental stress arising from potential or actual physical threat, as work is to be performed in close proximity to live electrically cables. 

Job purpose: 

Supervising trench excavating for laying of low tension and medium voltage cables and backfilling trenches, operating a crane mounted on a heavy-duty vehicle and other light machinery, and planting street lighting poles and consumer distribution units.  

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
